My gym instructor – “I see you are counting the reps in descending order – as though you are telling your body how much more is left to do. You don’t build muscles when you painstakingly complete 15 reps of an exercise. It’s the number of reps AFTER the 15 that matter. When your mind faces the reality that the original 15 was just a illusionary goal, when your body is astonished that you are going to do more even after everything has been exhausted for the first 15 – that’s when the muscles appear. It’s the same with a person’s character. ”
